Welcoming Matthew Powell as Senior Director of Infrastructure Markets

From the data we use to the energy that powers our homes and the transportation networks we travel on, infrastructure plays a vital role in all our lives. Given the importance of this sector, we’re proud to share that we have appointed Matthew Powell as Alcatraz’s first Senior Director of Infrastructure Markets.

Matthew’s appointment comes at an apt time during Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month. It is an important annual reminder of the growing range of threats faced by airports, transit systems, utility operators and other critical infrastructure. Safeguarding these assets requires constant vigilance, because even small disruptions can affect thousands of people.

Matthew brings over two decades of experience helping secure the systems that power our economy. His career has focused on enabling infrastructure owners to protect their operations, manage risk and build long-term resilience through intelligent security technology.

Before joining Alcatraz, Matthew served as Managing Director for North America at Intelligent Security Systems (ISS), where he led transportation and video intelligence strategy. His work focused on delivering AI-powered analytics and integrated solutions to the commercial sector as well as supporting large-scale public infrastructure and transportation initiatives.

Prior to ISS, Matthew spent more than eight years at Convergint Technologies. As Principal for Transportation, he led the strategy that helped transform Convergint into the world's premier aviation integrator. Over seven years, his team added more than 60 airports and eight major airlines to Convergint’s client base. He also played a key role in building the company’s transit and construction management practices.

At Alcatraz, Matthew will lead infrastructure strategy as we expand across high-security, high-throughput sectors. Our platform is already trusted in data centers, telecom networks, utilities and transportation hubs. He will focus on growing our footprint in these critical areas, as well as building the partnerships and programs that help operators strengthen security, meet compliance and improve resilience across their facilities.

“Infrastructure resilience begins with trusted access,” said Tina D’Agostin, CEO of Alcatraz. “Matthew’s deep expertise and industry leadership will be essential as we continue to grow in critical sectors where operational uptime and public safety are non-negotiable.”

Matthew added, “Critical infrastructure is a high-risk, high-volume environment that has unique needs around access control. While the technologies being deployed are similar to other markets, the use cases and ecosystems are very different. At Alcatraz, we are helping solve these challenges with a platform that’s built around privacy, performance and accountability. That’s exactly what the sector is asking for. I'm excited to bring a new wave of innovation into this space, backed by a team that understands both the urgency and the opportunity.”
